LONDON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Tesco, Britain's biggest retailer, took a further step on its journey to become a force in banking by signing up U.S. group Fiserv to provide the technology platform for its financial services business.

excellent use of the word fiduciary there, can you tell me what it means please? oh i love learning financialese!
I don't know about lloyds in general, as an 'institution' as much as a PLC I think they have broader considerations than the shareholders immediate profit, but consider, if they hadn't taken on the losses at HBOS, and HBOS went under, what would the prospect have been for lloyds wider portfolio and trading environment?!! IMHO lloyds contributed in stopping the chain of dominoes from falling, thus protecting shareholders from a severe housing crash and equity writedown. This reactionary group is a blinkered lot, perhaps blinded by immense personal financial loss, and unable to see that it could have been far worse for lloyds had they not intervened. I do feel terribly sorry for people that lost money here. I am a young (ish) man, but i can appreciate the distinction between what i perceive as an untrustworthy, volatile cut-throat financial system, and a nobler ideal of years ago which people thought lloyds represented, however the world cannot, or will not, maintain those ideals any longer. It is dog eat dog and frankly, until we get exporting something, anything, the value of our labours is in a precarious state. FWIW those are the figures my back of envelope calculations came out with. It's been looking like 3 for 2 at 33p is the most likely scenario with a TERP of 56p.
Out of interest I did another calculation to forecast what the brokers forecasted price ie "it's going to be the same price now after the rights issue ie 90p" actually means - compared to the undiluted price now. So if the diluted price is 56p then undiluted price = 90p 60p = 100p 70p = 125p 80p = 150p 90p = 175p As Lloyds was on a recent PE of about 2.5 compared to Barc at 5 then it is not unreasonable to expect a prediluted price of £1.80 which is equivalent to 90p- ish diluted. Anything is possible - it may even happen in 2010 ?? Chicken More | View thread (6) | Respond | Login to Vote up | Login to Vote down |
