Benitez favourite for the axe

Bookmaker Betfred has made Rafael Benitez 5/2 favourite to be the next manager to leave after Liverpool's poor start to the Premier League.

Liverpool have already lost two games this season, the total amount of defeats they suffered last campaign, which has heaped the pressure on Rafa Benitez.

Betfred spokesman Mark Pearson commented: "Once the final whistle blew at Anfield the requests started with punters wanting to back Rafa to go. We are 5/2 on Benitez to be the next casualty, 5/2 to miss out on a top-four place, and 13/2 for them to miss out on a European spot completely."

Betfred has also pushed out Liverpool to 9/1 to win their first league title since 1990.
